“Charley”

Charley, the first of our Happyblack Labradors was originally purchased as a family pet albeit one with an excellent and interesting pedigree.

Charley’s sire is Guy Spagnolo’s black dog of fine breed type Aust. Ch./NZ Ch. Croftsway Touch of Frost (Imp NZ, “Macki”). Charley’s dam was Pabulum Miss Vienna a chocolate bitch of substance owned by Dr Katie Syms of Dural. Being bred only twice in her lifetime, Vienna had the fine Poolstead, Charway, Lawnwood and Timspring English bloodlines closely behind her.

Charley’s robust and muscular physique and his steady yet adventurous personality makes him ideally suited to both obedience and agility. Post-show title we have worked on the high fitness level required and he has both a surprising turn of speed when motivated and a high degree of agility for such a big boy.

He loves the excitement and hype of the agility course and the thrill of the hunt – fishing for minnows in the lagoon or hunting for water dragons in the creek – Charley would be very much the ideal working gundog in times gone by.
