From Elizabeth Gent’s well known Gunnislake breeding,
Dolly’s sire is the outstanding black show dog Grand
Champion Gunnislake Tippler Jack (“JD”). Her
dam is the classy chocolate show girl Aust. Ch. Roughfield
Sophies Bella (Imp NZ). Dolly’s pedigree is the same
as another of Elizabeth’s prized brood bitches, the
superb and well-boned black Aust. Ch. Gunnislake Sweet Ruby.
Behind both Dolly’s sire and her dam we find many of
the finest English Labrador prefixes including Lawnwoods,
Charway, Longley and Sandylands.
Dolly’s biddable nature and sunny disposition is standing
her in good stead as she embarks on her agility and obedience
titles. As a real water baby she adores swimming and retrieving
anywhere she gets the chance – the pool, the creek,
the lagoon – water is her medium. Athletic and nimble,
Dolly loves to jump hurdles, race through tunnels and weavers,
up and down see-saws and A-frames, along dog walks and across
long jumps: she is the essence of a Happyblack Labrador.
Dolly has proved to be a magnificent brood bitch with two
text book litters to Australian Champion Eneleon Tigers Eye
(“Thomas”) on 8 May 2007 and 31 August 2009.
Three of the six pups in her first litter remained within
the family each attaining their Australian Championship title
within days of turning 12 months old. Dolly’s first
born puppy; Happyblack Spruce Bruce attained his Grand Championship
title at 2 years and 2 days of age becoming Australia’s
youngest Labrador to attain the title. Four of the seven
pups in the second litter, whilst living the good life in
wonderful family homes, have been secured for use in our
future breeding program and two “show stoppers” may
also have a dabble in the show ring.
In 2008, Dolly won the prestigious award of Dam & Progeny
at the Labrador Club of NSW Championship Show and in 2009
won the same award at the Labrador Retriever Club of Victoria
Championship Show– two out of two!!
We look forward to retiring Dolly from maternal duties in
2010 and trialling her in obedience.
