Gertie is our first homebred Australian Champion bitch from our very first Happyblack litter.

She titled at 12 months and 10 days with a Best Junior in the Gundog Group at Temora.

Despite limited showing and always competing against her “show boy” brother, Gertie has excelled in the show ring winning the first Class in Show Award for the Happyblack Kennel (over 61 all breed entries no less), a R/Up Best in Group from the Puppy Class, 12 Class in Group and Sweepstakes Awards and class placings at all three Labrador Specialties she has attended.

On Boxing Day 2008 we nearly lost Gertie to a tiger snake bite on the South Coast of NSW. We are forever grateful to the wonderful vets and nurses (Fiona!!!) that nursed our Gertie back to health.

Gertie and Fran have been training in obedience and hope to commence trialling late 2009. Gertie’s first litter with imported semen is being planned for late 2010/early 2011.
